चमोली जिले में नगर से लेकर ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में भालू की दहशत बनी हुई है। अभी तक भालू बदरीनाथ और केदारनाथ वन प्रभाग में चार लोगों को मार चुका है, जबकि लगभग 24 लोगों को घायल कर चुका है।
चमोली जिला पंचायत ने भालू की दहशत को कम करने के लिए अभिनव प्रयोग किया है। ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में डेंजर नाम की दवाई का वितरण किया जा रहा है। अधिकारियों ने दावा किया है कि इस दवाई के गांवों के रास्तों और सीमाओं पर छिड़काव करने से भालू आबादी क्षेत्र की ओर नहीं आ सकेगा। जिला पंचायत ने दवाई के साथ ही इसके छिड़काव की 60 मशीनें भी क्रय कर ली हैं।

भालू की दहशत इतनी बढ़ गई है कि लोग शाम होते ही अपने घरों में कैद हो रहे हैं। जिला पंचायत ने ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के पैदल रास्तों की झाड़ियों का कटान भी किया, इसके बावजूद भालू की दहशत कम नहीं हुई। अब जिला पंचायत ने डेंजर नाम की दवाई क्रय की है। यह तरल और दवा की दानेदार गोली के रूप में है। जिला पंचायत अध्यक्ष दौलत सिंह बिष्ट ने ट्रायल के रूप में नंदानगर विकास खंड के दस ग्राम पंचायतों में इस दवाई और छिड़काव की मशीन का वितरण किया।
इस दवाई की दुर्गंध तीखी होने के कारण भालू अपना रुख बदल देता है। दवाई को गांवों के सीमा क्षेत्र और आम रास्तों में छिड़काव किया जाएगा। इस पायलट प्रोजेक्ट के परिणाम अच्छे रहे तो जनपद के सभी गांंवों में इसका वितरण किया जाएगा। दवा छिड़काव के लिए 60 मशीनें मंगवाई गई हैं। – तेज सिंह, अपर मुख्य अधिकारी, जिला पंचायत

विकास भवन परिसर में मुख्य विकास अधिकारी डॉ. अभिषेक त्रिपाठी ने ग्रामीणों को डेंजर दवाई के पैकेट वितरित किए। उन्होंने बताया कि जनपद के कई ग्रामीण क्षेत्र जंगली जानवरों की समस्या से प्रभावित हैं, ऐसे में यह पहल किसानों के लिए उपयोगी सिद्ध होगी। उन्होंने दवाई के सही उपयोग हेतु संबंधित अधिकारियों द्वारा ग्रामीणों को जागरूक किए जाने के निर्देश दिए।
