मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत सिंह मान के नेतृत्व वाली पंजाब सरकार लोगों को साफ़ पीने का पानी मुहैया करवाने के लिए वचनबद्ध है। इसी के तहत फाजिल्का शहर के विभिन्न हिस्सों में 7 करोड़ की लागत से शुरू होने वाली पीने के पानी की परियोजना का आज 19 मई को कैबिनेट मंत्री डॉ. रावजोत सिंह द्वारा नींव पत्थर रखकर कार्य की शुरुआत की जाएगी। यह जानकारी फाजिल्का के विधायक श्री नरिंदर पाल सिंह सवना ने दी।
विधायक सवना ने बताया कि राज्य सरकार द्वारा फाजिल्का शहर में पीने के पानी की पाइपलाइन बिछाने के लिए 6.98 करोड़ रुपए की राशि स्वीकृत की गई है। इस योजना के तहत शहर में 20 किलोमीटर लंबी पीने के पानी की पाइपलाइन बिछाई जाएगी, जिससे लगभग 2000 घरों तक साफ पीने का पानी पहुंचेगा। उन्होंने बताया कि विशेषकर शहर के बाहरी क्षेत्रों और स्लम इलाकों में इस योजना के तहत पानी की आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित की जाएगी। फाजिल्का क्षेत्र में भूमिगत पानी पीने योग्य नहीं होने के कारण वॉटर वर्क्स आधारित जल आपूर्ति की बहुत जरूरत थी, जिसे लंबे समय से लोग मांग रहे थे और अब पंजाब सरकार ने इसे पूरा किया है।
विधायक ने बताया कि इस राशि से धीगरां कॉलोनी, नई आबादी, बाढा लेक के पास की कॉलोनी, फ्रीडम फाइटर रोड, मलोट रोड पंचायती एरिया के पास की कॉलोनी, फिरोजपुर रोड पुल के पास की कॉलोनी, सच्चा सौदा डेरे के सामने, श्री राम शरणम आश्रम के पास की कॉलोनी। इसके अतिरिक्त अबोहर रोड बुलेट एजेंसी के पीछे, अन्नी दिल्ली, धोबी घाट, माधव नगरी, विजय कॉलोनी के सामने की कॉलोनी, खटिक मोहल्ला आदि क्षेत्रों में पीने के पानी की पाइपलाइन बिछाई जाएगी।
